3D Printing Materials28 Nov 18 - 04:09 3D Printing Materials: Features & Materials UsedToday the world is progressing at a very fast rate. It has come up with new and innovative ideas which possess great usage. 3D printing is one of the most common uses of technology is applied in almost everything. There are various materials used in 3D printing. It has been quite a few years that the use of printing with different dimensions has come into existence. New printers have come up with various types of printing materials. Every day new printers are born with unique ideas. They are inventing new ways to print materials such as food, metal, composites, concrete, paper, plastics, organic materials and what not.
Features of 3D printing materialshere are several materials used for 3D printing. The following are the features of 3D printing materials: - Plastic – The most commonly used material for 3-dimensional printing is plastic. Plastic is mainly used to make toys and fixtures of the houses. It is available in different colors and also in transparent form. The products made out of plastic are made and molded into a number of layers. There are different types of plastics used to make different materials. These are polylactic acid, acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, polyvinyl alcohol plastic, etc. Powders – The powder is melted and put into layers until it reaches the exact texture, pattern, and thickness. These powders are mainly collected from two main materials, namely, polyimide (also known as nylon) and alumide. Resins – It is rarely available in nature and therefore is used less. There are mainly three varieties of resins, white, black and transparent. There are three categories of resin, transparent resin, high-detail resins and resin which can be painted.
The different materials used for 3D printingStainless metals – Stainless metals, such as steel, bronze, aluminum, gold, titanium, nickel steel, are some of the commonly used3D printing materials. These metals are directly printed and this is done by binding metal dust. It is made hard by firing. This can be directly used as a working part. Nitinol – It is something which can be used in medical items and is an alloy of nickel and titanium. Medical products can be 3D printed now because of the existence of nitinol. Stem Cells – Today technology is so developed that different organs of the human body can also be printed with 3D printings. It can be done only during the replacement of an organ, such as the heart (a part of it), blood vessels, during the replacement of an ear. Paper – Paper can be 3D printed and it helps to ease down the work as the traditional models take ample time to work on to give a realistic look. On the other hand, 3D printed paper can be trimmed, glued and colored all at the same time with the help of a machine. The tastes and preferences of people have changed over the years. People want everything to be new and everything that relates to technology. 3D printing is one of the important trends now. |
